A good place to start is by finding a little more about your author.  Then there are some websites on literature.  Ultimately you are going to have to find actual criticism, and we are here to help with that.  So good luck, and let us know what we can do to help!

By the way, there are lots of free full text literary works on the web (mainly older stuff that the copyright has run out on) if your eyes are up to it.
